Today, it was again extremely cold. I had to really push myself to go outside to take some pictures. However the storm that apparently (I wasn’t here to witness it because I was in my other home) raged here a few weeks ago had resulted in a whole lot of things on the lakeside getting an icy coating. There were some pretty amazing ice formations, but unfortunately the light was not what I desired (aka the sun didn’t hit the icicles because it was shining so low) :c The ground beneath my feet had also gotten an icy coating, I discovered; I slipped and am now wondering about the possible need to go to the ER because of a possibly fractured finger… Extreme. :D

Babbling aside, here are the best pics. Enjoy!

I love this, but my infinite love for bridges might have something to do with it… :DD

Of course my love for ice it not a secret either ^^

This plant was not in the water line, but it had also been bitten by the cold

While walking by the lake I noticed that I would have been able to get some very interesting photos without having to have to go there. It would have sufficed to just go out side. I’ll show you what I meant in the next post. Hint: The cold air was a factor with this too C:

A dream quote for today: “Happiness is having a dream you cannot let go of and a partner who would never ask you to.” Now here’s a happiness I too wish to achieve ^^

Frozen grass

The Finnish winter has shown it’s teeth. Yesterday it was a beautiful winter day in Joensuu, which I took advantage of by taking some photographs of frozen grass blades. I really am happy about buying that macro lens! :D Right now I’m sitting on a train on my way to the south. Ironically the weather is far worse in the southern Finland than it was in the north. There’s a huge blizzard roaring and the trains are running late by several hours. We are already running over 10 minutes late and we haven’t even reached the real blizzard zone yet. Hope I’ll get home safe D: Anyway, enjoy the pictures! ^^

A dream quote for today: “You will not do incredible things without an incredible dream.” ^^

Winter invasion

Published February 19, 2012 by Dreamreflector

Today I have a lot of work to do. I have to do my maths assignment and clean and cook and go for a jog and stretch and study biology and practise my singing and… Well you get the point. Somehow it seems that the more I have to do, the less I feel like doing it. And then when I don’t want to do the things I’m supposed to I automatically start to do something else entirely. :D I wonder if anyone else has the same problem. So today I have clipped my nails and done some daydreaming. And I have done none of the things I have to do.

I decided that I would do something somewhat useful as to convince myself that this time won’t go to waste. Therefore I thought I’d write you a blog post C: And for myself too, really, since I get so much from writing this blog. It truly is helpful to have something to channel my mind into. I mean into something that I actually enjoy.

So yesterday, we went to our summer cottage to see if everything was fine there. Since no one had been there after summer we had to walk a few hundred meters in knee-high unbeaten snow. It was pretty tiring I have to say :D But exercise is always good for you. The summer cottage was still standing proud -for the ramshackle little thing that it is, at least. The temperature inside was chilly and everything was covered with frost and ice crystals :D I found it rather beautiful. Maybe it was because of the fact that I had never seen frost inside the cottage before or the fact that I am so in love with that familiar little cabin, but I felt so happy skittering about in there with my camera. It was a place of quiet solitude and misunderstood beauty. The winter had invaded it and I followed.

Here are a few eyefuls for you to see, reflected through my camera lens:

The windows were completely covered with ice crystals

The ceiling and the wall of the summer cottage Sauna, looking frosty.

The tap of the Sauna. It lies above the sauna stove, on a container that holds water, so that the stove warms it nicely. Now there was no sign of warmth :D

The shower head, which is never in use :D

And the alternative method for the shower, a vat and a ladle. Rustic, I know. The water of course had frozen solid.

The ceiling in the living room, also coated in frost

A frosty door frame. Note the lavender coloured ceiling <3 It’s bold and it’s proud and I simply LOVE it!

A frosty pole on the fireplace, which is bright red as you may see C:

A few boxes in the bookshelf. And again everything’s embroided with ice crystals.

And finally a tribute to the decoration :D It’s not modern it’s not luxuries but it’s full of personality and it suits the place.

That’s how you should think about yourself too! You’re look is perfect as long as it matches who you are and you carry it off with pride. Never try to hide who you are or change yourself because some one doesn’t like your style. It’s their problem not yours, you are made perfect C:

Today’s dream quote: “There are no rules of architecture for a castle in the clouds.” <3

Be the best you can be – YOU! C:
