A new project

Published September 29, 2013 by Dreamreflector

Everyone here knows about my passion for photography. Many of you also know about my passion for daydreaming. But what most of you probably don’t know about, is my passion for singing. I have had this passion for a long time, but it has not been that visible in this blog, (and I am keeping it that way, fear not). Now I have finally decided to come out of the bathtub and start keeping tabs of my singing via blogging. This is why I have started a new blog MyMelodyRealities. I am not looking to become the next “insert-pop-star-who-randomly-springed-to-easy-fame”. But I would like to hear honest, not-mean opinions, critique and encouragement, which ever you feel I need.

So, if that spiked you’re interest in anyway, go check it out ->

And here’s a pic of my new goat friend, just for fun :D

Carved in stone

I was biking around and found a really beautiful beach with a very interestingly shaped bedrock. Here are some pretty fascinating close ups I took there. They’re pretty abstract but I like them C:

I’ve always been a fan of rocks. They really have an ageless beauty to them. It really amazes me when I think about the time and pressure it has taken to mold these rocky surfaces as they appear to me now. Really humbling in a way to know that the rock your standing on has been there for countless of decades. I know I am young but this makes everyone seem young. This really gets me into deep thoughts about the fragility of my life and the relativeness of time.

A dream quote for today, fitted for my pondering mood: “Never give up on a dream because of the time it will take you to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.”

And here’s a track that I think is good for pondering the matters of life and timelessness, makes me feel really nostalgic somehow. Corvette Cassette by Slow Magic

Spring is here!

Hi yah to all my blogging friends! It’s been a long long time since my last post. I could tell you again that I have been very very busy and leave it at that, but I thought I’d tell you something about my life instead. If you don’t want to hear this just hop right down to the pictures and enjoy, but otherwise, here’s a quick recap of what I’ve been up to lately C:

First of I want to say that studying has taken quite some time, but it has been very rewarding and I have enjoyed it hole-heartedly. I’ve learned so much and so far my enthusiasm towards Biology has not faded. This semester is nearly at its end already, and it feels weird to think that I’ve been a university student for a year now, and will no longer be a freshman in Autumn when the next semester starts.

The University choir has also had its work cut out for me. We have worked on a rather challenging Rock/Pop song program, had tree concerts and just a few weeks ago we recorded the songs to be made into an album. However there are still some small things to be done in the next few weeks with that.

And finally something I’m really exited about. I’ve finally started to get back to good old film photography! I have a nice camera, and the university has a really cool dark room. I’ve only gotten a few finished shots, but I am going to share some with you too once I get some more done. The process is a lot slower than the digital one, which also contributes to me not having much time to get digital shots.

I took these about a week ago, when I was just snooping around the corners of the city I hadn’t been to before. This kind of adventuring is really fun I think. You just never know what you find!

I found this skull in a forest near the lake Pyhäjärvi. It was rather big too, so I suspected it was a seagull, perhaps Larus argentatus. However as I did some simple comparing based on the Internet, I found that the beak is not curved enough at the tip to belong to L . argentinus. So the jury is still out on this one. If you have an idea, please let me know in the comments! C:

Nothing special to say about this one. I just like the peacefulness and simplicity of it. And the shy bokeh too C:

And finally this little fellow, a beautiful Zootoca vivipara, aka the common lizard C: He’s the first I’ve seen this year!

A dream quote for today: “For all their bitching about what’s holding them back, most people have a lot of trouble coming up with the defined dreams they’re being held from.” Sad but true :C Make sure You aren’t like those people! ^^

A Summer Night

Published July 4, 2012 by Dreamreflector

I have really fell in love with this song by the Finnish band Pariisin kevät (literally “The Spring in Paris”) called Kesäyö – A Summer Night. It really has the perfect atmosphere for my summer, as it is beautiful, but a bit melancholic. Here are the lyrics translated in English by me, and some of my photographs fitted for the theme C: Please enjoy!

A Summer Night

I sat in the twilight

a moment started that

felt like it would never end.

The silence arrived to me for a while

arrived like a creature and yelled:

“Don’t be afraid of the world!”

We sat together for a while

and the space was looking at us.

And outside, a summer night

it rained tears on faces

And outside, a summer night

it rained tears on faces

I wake up on a beach,

the night is brighter than the day

the spots of light in the sky

glide to the morning

I have forgotten, from where I came here

I cloak myself in the cloak of oblivion.

But I remember squadrons,

that flew to the horizon.

And outside, a summer night

it rained tears on faces

And outside, a summer night

it rained tears on faces

I sit in the twilight

I am still waiting for the moment that never ends.

I wish the silence would arrive

and tell me how everything disappears eventually.

I see the lights in the sky

And shivers run down my back.

And outside, a summer night

it rained tears on faces

And outside, a summer night

it rained tears on faces

And outside, a summer night

it rained tears on faces

And out side, a summer night

it rained on faces

And this is me enjoying the summer night ;D

And a dream quote for today: “When a person truly desires something, all the Universe conspires to help that person realize his dream.” ^^

Things I am going to do someday vol 1

Published April 20, 2012 by Dreamreflector

At some point in their life, I think everyone gets to a point where they reflect on their past experiences and decide what more there is to be done in life. I have done something like that today. But because I feel I have so much to say about these, I am going to do several posts (don’t know how many yet, we’ll see) about what I want to do in life. And I am going to write about one or two things per post, depending on how much I have to say about them. Hope you enjoy reading these, and maybe find some things that you too want to do. Or maybe you have done some of these already! If you have, I would love for you to comment about it. Okay here we go!

  • Get married

I think for those of you who have bared with me a while longer, this is something rather obvious, and it has been that way for me too. True love, for which I miraculously still have faith for, to me demands marriage. But of course, marriage itself as a goal would be stupid. There’s no point in marrying someone just to get married. So that’s why I need an other goal.

  • Fall in love

That’s probably even more obvious to you :D But it’s true. I don’t feel the need to present much argument for this. I’ve never met a person who hasn’t wanted to fall in love. Sure we all have moments when we think, fuck love, but sooner or later we’ll still end up wanting to feel it. I’m really not that into rap music, but this Finnish rap song really has a cute take on love. The artists are Leijonamieli and Putkimiehet (Literally The lion mind and the plumbers) and the song is called “Laulu sadepäivän varalle” (A song for in case of a rainy day) Enjoy the sound of Finnish C:

Here are the lyrics in English, translated by me:

Sometimes it rains, sometimes it shines, this is my song for in case of a rainy day.

This is my song for in case of a rainy day

I know I won’t stay alone

Something great was missing

The direction of the wind of my life changed

I can see the sun already

What is the thing for which sake you have resorted to desperate acts

The thing for which sake there has been war and murder

But without it one is so very frustrated

What is the thing who cuddles you and to whom you unload your sorrows

The thing that makes you think “what the f**k”

since because of it both your eyes and jaw drop.

Many people have to search it from deep down

To ask it from the above in their nightly prayers

Young people search for it, it supports in the midst of worry

It brings out the most sensitive side in the toughest of men

Everybody searches it, some will never find it

It puts down the arrogant, and raises up the humble

It is thrown away in anger

It gets you to collect seven flowers under your pillow on midsummer night

When I look at it I see so many d*mn good things

that to describe it I need Dave’s big pen

Now she sleeps next to me, burrowed in my armpit

At her most beautiful with the shape of the pillow pressed on her cheek

It’s the feeling of togetherness on dark nights

when both my soul and body tingle under her touch

when she came to visit me for the first time

she gave coloured pencils to my black and white world

causing a never-ending beating of my heart

forcing me to seek an answer to the question

Why me

Why did it choose me, a man who has shards of glass in his heart

Why me

Why did it choose me, a man who yesterday painted a devil to a wall

The answer:

It doesn’t ask us time or place

It gets our priorities straight, it renews us

It was lost, but has now come back

It’s the worlds greatest feeling -being in love!

This is probobly my favourite part

For so long the sun rose black

you’re heart starts to hurt when you walk alone in the darkness for long enough

thinking, won’t these days give me any light at all

That’s when I saw a flash from the sun under the gray sky

I want to believe in faith and build it with you

In the middle of the storm you stood, at the end of a rainbow

S**t piles up but that too I can all carry

When I’ve got someone next to me, with whom to divide the burden

Phew, that was it. And this is one of the reasons why I normally don’t like rap music. The lyrics are soooo long. Hope someone had the patience to read those through, because there are many great points in it about love.

A dream quote for today: ” Dreams get you into the future and add excitement to the present.” ^^
