A greenhouse effect

Published September 11, 2013 by Dreamreflector

I am trying to grow some venus flytraps right now, since I absolutely love carnivorous plants. I bought a miniature greenhouse and decorated it appropriately, but so far the germination has been poor. Never mind, I spray them with water regularly to keep the humidity high. So one evening while I was doing this, I noticed that the droplets on the greenhouses’s walls with the setting sun hitting them looked quite photogenic. That’s my kind of greenhouse effect! C:

I sure hope the seeds will wake up soon. At least I know it’s not a question of lack of care.

Winter warmth vol 2

You can read the first part here https://mydreamrealities.wordpress.com/2012/10/28/winter-warmth-vol-1/ ^^

More pictures from my evening walk a few days back. Please enjoy!

I have said it before and I will say it again; I just LOVE ice. The evening glow hit these ornate-looking ice formations so beautifully! It inspired me to take these abstract photographs C: They kind of have a fairytale feel to them IMO.

Winter warmth vol 1

Published October 28, 2012 by Dreamreflector

I was taking some pictures at sunset yesterday, and I am really satisfied with them. I feel like these are the best pictures in a very long time to say the least. I’ll divide them into a few posts.

The reason why I named the post as I did, is because there was something really magical about the light that day.

It was freezing cold. My fingers got cold even with the gloves on, my knees glazed over from kneeling in the ground, and my eyes teared up because of the wind, and the shear coldness of the air surrounding me.

But when I looked through the camera, and when I look at the pictures now, I feel a unique warmth. I have not altered the colors in the photos at all. There’s no computer added warmth, just the warmth of a winter sun kissing goodbye.

Please enjoy ^^

Stay tuned for more C:

Ps. Please bear with me during the quiet time that’s coming again. The Internet is pretty much useless here, as you know, so I can’t give you new posts again in a while :c

An evening, part 1

Published October 14, 2012 by Dreamreflector

I was at a singing camp with the choir a few weekends ago. It involved a lot of singing but we also had some free time in the evening. As the camp was held near the nature in a biological research center belonging to our university I of course brought my camera along and used the spare time to take some photos. I’m going to divide the photos into two posts to keep the length reasonable.

Down by the lake

I walked on to a nearby lake last night, and took a few photos C: I love lakes, and they are plenty here in Finland. Hope you like them!

I am definitely going to buy more stay-ups

Published June 10, 2012 by Dreamreflector

I took some photography today, and since many people seem to be enjoying them I’m gonna give you a few to look at. The professional photographer who took my graduation photo, told me that you can use pantyhose or stay-ups as a softer for your camera. I still had the stay-ups I wore on graduation so I decided to give it a try. And I have to admit, it does make a nice effect. It rained last night so I got some pretty decent water droplet pictures too C:

I find it so amazing that such simple things like water, can look so beautiful.

These two pictures have been taken with the same settings almost at the same time (plus minus 5 seconds) but the first one was taken without the stay-up sock and the second one with it. The difference is surprisingly big, don’t you agree? The stay-up really smooths the color scheme up.

And using the stay-up can give a unifying, almost impersonal effect too. Again, the same settings and all, the first without the stay up, the second with it.

I think I’m going to use this trick in the future too C:
